Academy Beginners (Level 1) & Academy Improvers (Level 2):
Here students can choose an instrument to focus on. This doesn’t mean that they are restricted to just one however. We offer guitar, drums, piano and voice at this level. Students will then work together on an array of pieces with termly performances to work towards. We will also seek to get them on stage at other local venues to build confidence and self-esteem. We’ll make sure that they will be learning lots and discovering their craft.
Our goal is to increase ability and musical understanding to an intermediate level so that they can progress to the SOPM Academy where they will be ready to work as a band!
Academy Bands (Level 3):
SOPM Academy focuses on professional and artistic development for students that are ready for the next phase of their musical journey.
Academy students will be placed into bands and mentored by one of our tutors concentrating on developing strong musicianship and experience playing live.
Students will receive half-termly specialised theory and songwriting classes and receive plenty of opportunities to play in front of hundreds or even thousands on the best stages around the Island.

- Work with a band and SOPM mentor
- Learn the basics of any band instrument
- Explore all genres of music
- Learn specialist skills such as music theory and composition
- Perform on stages across Guernsey throughout the term
